Servicing JLR timing chains
The 2.0 Ingenium diesel in your Evoque, Discovery Sport or Jaguar can stretch its timing chain. We replace it with genuine JLR parts, and we change 2.2 and 3.0 diesel timing belts too.
Evoque, Discovery Sport, Discovery 5, Velar, Range Rover Sport and Defender, and the Jaguar XE, XF, E-Pace and F-Pace with the 2.0 diesel. The chains sit at the back of the engine, so the gearbox comes off to reach them. That is why it is a big job, and why the price starts where it does.
Freelander 2, earlier Evoque and Discovery Sport, and the Jaguar XF 2.2d. A belt-driven engine: change it on time and it is routine; leave it and a snapped belt can wreck the engine. We fit quality OE-standard belt kits.
Discovery 4, Range Rover Sport, Range Rover and Jaguar 3.0 diesels. These run a main belt at the front and a second belt at the back for the fuel pump. We check both, and fit quality OE-standard kits.
Do not keep driving on a rattle. If the chain jumps a tooth, the valves can hit the pistons, and a chain job becomes an engine. Ring us or send the registration and we will get it in.
A chain job means taking the gearbox off. Nobody wants to do that twice. We fit genuine JLR parts on the 2.0 Ingenium chain so the repair is done once, to the factory part.
Why £3,000 is a starting price: most of the cost is labour, getting the gearbox out and back in. The figure moves with the model, the drivetrain and what we find when it is opened up. We confirm the price on your registration before you book, and we agree it with you before we start.

From £3,000, with genuine JLR chain parts, an oil and filter change, and all the bolts and gaskets the job needs. We confirm the exact figure on your registration before you book.
On the 2.0 Ingenium the timing chains are at the back of the engine, against the gearbox. The gearbox comes out to reach them, which is where most of the time and cost goes.
We would not. If a stretched chain jumps a tooth, the valves can hit the pistons, and a chain job becomes an engine.
Yes. Both are timing belt engines. We fit quality OE-standard kits and price them on your registration.
No, we work on most makes. These are jobs we do regularly, and we sell Land Rovers ourselves.
