What we check

Battery

Tested properly, not just a voltage reading. Modern batteries don’t fade, they just stop, and the first hard frost is usually when they do it.

Tyres

Tread depth and condition on all four. Sheffield hills in the wet and cold are where worn tyres show up, and the legal minimum is not a lot of grip.

Lights

Every bulb front and back, including the ones you can’t see from the driver’s seat. Short days mean you are using them more.

Wipers and washers

Blades checked for smearing and splitting, and the washer bottle topped up with a proper screenwash that won’t freeze.

Fluids

Coolant level and antifreeze strength, brake fluid and oil. Weak antifreeze is an expensive thing to find out about in January.

Something needs doing

We show you what we found and give you the price before anything is done. You decide.

Small jobs sorted on the day

Things like a bulb or screenwash can usually be done while you wait. Screenwash refill £12, tyre fitting and disposal £18.

Book it in before the first frost

It takes a lot less time to check a car in October than it does to recover one off the side of the road in December. Book in for the free check on its own, or have it done while the car is in for a service or MOT.

Yes. Book the car in and we check the battery, tyres, lights, wipers and fluids for free. If anything needs doing we price it first and it is your call.

Can you do it at the same time as a service or MOT?

Yes, and that is the easiest way. Just mention it when you book.
