Sheffield is hard on suspension. Hills, speed bumps and potholes punish springs and shocks harder than most cities. If you have started hearing a knock or clunk over bumps, the car feels floaty or crashy, it is pulling to one side, or your tyres are wearing unevenly, the suspension is telling you something. Bring it in and we will put it on the ramp and check everything free of charge.
Commonly it knocks the alignment out, and sometimes it bends a wheel, damages a tyre or cracks a spring. We will check all of it on the ramp. If you are thinking about a council pothole claim, tell us and we will note down what we find while the car is up in the air.
Springs and shocks are replaced in axle pairs where wear demands it, because mismatched sides handle unpredictably. But we will never pair up parts that do not need it. As always: ramp inspection, photos, written quote, your call.
It depends on the cause. A worn drop link is annoying, but a failing ball joint can let the wheel fold under. The check is free, so do not diagnose it by hoping.
Yes. Broken springs, leaking shocks and worn joints are all failure items. Fixing them before the test is cheaper than a retest.
